A not very polite post about the modern web #profanity

oh my fucking gawd , the internet is fucking unusable with your fucking cookie consent shit and fucking "it works better in our app" and your fucking "subscribe to our newsletter" and your fucking "location access" and your fucking notifications.

All this to display some fucking text with a fucking picture.

Go fucking home internet, you are fucking drunk.

@rghvdberg Also, I could not agree with you more. I fucking hate it too

@rghvdberg I think it's just that spammers and spyware got legitimized at some point.

20 years ago, spyware used to be marked by antivirus programs. Spam was furiously fought against. Pop-ups were shut down by browser vendors.

Not sure who to blame for what we have now. Stupidity of users that came since then, Google or something else.

@rghvdberg I wish we could have search engines where we can more 'actively' influence results so we can 'downvote' sites that do this...

@rghvdberg disable javascript and discard sites that become unusable then :)

@sexybiggetje @rghvdberg I'm already discarding sites that prompt you to register or to download an app. If I'm an occasional user, it might not make sense to me registering, let alone downloading a 56Mb app just to read a single post. Other than that, I really hate badges with number, the give me a sense of something unfinished

@rghvdberg that reminds me of youtube.com/watch?v=OFRjZtYs3w

TL;DW it is advertisers

@rghvdberg I most definitely could not agree more :/

@rghvdberg throwing my hat in on this. it's a hellscape.

also perhaps of interest: if you have a VR headset plugged in TONS of websites that would seemingly have no reason to do this ask for VR access.

@June no way !

:blobpats:

@rghvdberg I've been feeling this a lot lately. The modern web has gotten so fucking unusable.

@rghvdberg I am also fed up with those fucked cookie crap as well. Some websites are such slick pricks that they would ether just do it with out you knowing or they would say it or explain to you what a damn cookie is to make you accept it or goodness sake! only give you the button to ONLY accept it and the other option is practically THE SAME SHIT! 😖 😠
(!I could not have agreed more!)
( #fuckcookies 🌐 🍪 )

@rghvdberg I don’t appreciate the excessive profanity, but I fully understand your pain. 🙂 At least we have the gopher protocol. 🦫 You should look into that. It’s pretty cool. 😊

@rghvdberg Not sure why this toot isn’t appearing in your thread, but it was about the annoyances about the modern internet.
