to think that either trump or biden is some sort of white savior that's going to fix shit is basically the same kind of denial of reality, just with different outcomes
if you actually believe in progressive values, you're going to have to fight for them, and not resort to happy thoughts every four years. in or out of electoral politics
if you're a trump supporter, you just need to stop with that shit, though
gonna say before it happens, because it could -- if you're gearing up to say "the left is just as bad as the right!" -- not "the left has its own problems to fix", but literally believing that, mm, Angela Davis is the same as Mike Pence or whatever --
saved you a reply
"prefer" is more like "sure, some people are going to hold their nose, given how rigged shit was"
the bloomberg article is...smh, though. it's like centrist liberals all keep missing the mood of the moment 100%, just like they did in 2016. while also trying to spin this like progressive liberals in their party were "wreckers" rather than the electoral college overriding the popular vote.
personally, i feel no slight towards people voting for him. it's both a personal choice, and an understandable reaction to how fucked up things are.
will it make things worse, in the long run? probably. i'm definitely not the one to tell you it's going to be ok -- the centrist wing of the democrats use this kind of situation to push things further to the right,
which they then blame on conservatives, who then push things even further to the right.
this has been happening for nearly 30 years now.
if you can manage to stop looking at electoral politics as the be-all, end-all of everything, i'd appreciate it, though.
organizing outside of the electoral system for actual change, inside the electoral system or not, that's what will turn this constant shifting further to the right in general around. not elections.
organizing can be as simple as getting those around you to change their views (and hopefully, act in their own collective interests), or as complex as devoting your entire life to a cause. but it's all organizing.
then from that, whatever you decide is best in relation to your own situation, both locally and nationally, that's your business.
we need movements. all of us
the "you" there is some sort of appeal to liberalism in general, not any particular person. just so that's clear
