"When an interested buyer decides to buy a copy of the artwork, they send a payment through the platform along with their own public key. The artist then signs a message including data like the purchase price, timestamp, parties involved, and any other data that might be relevant or interesting. Any legal agreements or copyright transfer details can also be included as desired. This is all collected together, signed, and publicly displayed, and voila! Ownership transferred."

NFT2 aka ChainlessNFT

@luka Very nice! I might consider offering our next single as an #NFT2 to anyone interested. Completely free of charge, of course!

NFT2

@luka So they sign a contract re transfer of copyright. The rest is just packaging.

NFT2

@tipjip not necessarily copyright, just ownership.

NFT2

@luka I don't know about your law, but under mine ownership is resticted to things (e.g. a painting). So you can't own something uncorporeal. You can have rights to those things (e.g. copyright).

NFT2

@tipjip I'm now thinking about the difference between ownership and possession. The whole thing is a total mess anyway. Digital copies should just empower everyone anyway.

NFT2

@luka Ownership and possession are similar in only being applicable to things. :) But I won't go down that rabbit hole.

With noncorporeal stuff you need to think about which rights you want to transfer.

NFT2

@tipjip wasn't there a story of someone buying a NFT of something (an album?) and were then confused when they were not allowed to reproduce or mix it or something? they definitely didn't have the copyrights, just NFT that gave them 'ownership'?

NFT2

@luka Exactly. And if ownership is nothing, then what exactly did they pay for? And how did NFTs help?

NFT2

@tipjip no, no, there's no question that NFTs contributed absolutely nothing good to the world. I'm probably nudging at the can of worms anyway and should just fuck off onto something much more interesting (and real).

NFT2

@tipjip they paid for a signature to whatever, if you ask me. but it's moronic to artificialy create scarcity and 'originals' in the digital post-scarcity world.
