These 'covers' for in-ear headphones are disintegrating by liquification. Can soneone tell me is this normal and how safe are they if they just start to disintegrate less then two years after purchase?
@luka it happens a lot with that kinda rubber/soft touch material. it's a huge problem for retro pc and games collectors :/
@luka iirc it's just the plastic breaking down which is... gross but not particularly dangerous

@luka if you ever run into it with electronics (where it's hard plastics coated in some kinda soft touch material or just plain old rubber), you can easily take it off using isopropyl alcohol but I don't think that'll do much with your earplugs
@tom ooh that's a good advice. there's number of older devices that i have that are totally gross to the touch because something is falling apart.
