I came to this via playing around with scales and remembered about watching someone online talking about mixolydian scale with flat 6 (a descening melodic minor scale of iv)

I made a mistake. The above video is in simple natural minor scale/ That's what a descending melodic minor scale is, isn't it?

Now, the mixolydian (the dominant) scale (a major scale but starting from fifth) is

whole, whole, half, whole, whole, half, whole

but with with a flat 6th is:

whole, whole, half, whole, half, whole, whole.

@luka Descending natural minor is also known as aeolian mode.

I tend to hear flat-6 mixolydian as sharp-7 dorian ("ascending melodic minor"), the tritone between the 3rd and the 7th inverts it for me.
