kinda long, need advice about guitars

I've started playing guitar and I'm torn between nylon and steel strings!!! I love the sound and the feel of nylon strings, but I need VOLUME and I also need strings that won't break if the temperature changes dramatically. I wanna be able to take my guitar on a campout in the mountains of Colorado where it's nice and warm in the morning and nearly freezing by evening and not have to worry about strings breaking. Am I overthinking this? What do y'all think?

nylon strings do not pull with the same force against the neck as steel strings, so changes to wooden elements via humidity/temperature are likely to be less "traumatic" with nylon strings.

what you say about volume is true. maybe you should also buy an electric guitar ...

maybe think about a ukulele for outdoor adventure

good luck

Definitely not :) Nylon and steel string guitars are subtly different instruments and its entirely appropriate to think carefully about which you want to play. Volume on nylons can be increased with a pickup and a small amp. I haven't noticed nylons breaking significantly more than steels due to climate conditions. As long as folks don't strum too aggressively, especially when the strings are under stress.
