Your is beautiful! Hope more people will visit and have a listen:

ps: Thank you for getting a copy of "leaving". Share your thoughts please if you don't mind.

I think I was particularly drawn to leaving as it has the sort of form that I'm interesting in atm, with lots of repetition.

I sent it to a friend actually. Maybe you'd be interested in their stuff. I think this recording is really beautiful:

And as I've been thinking about tuning systems recently, it made me think about incorporating different tunings into my music. I liked the use of pitch bends and such in the melodic sections

@aliciaesperanza96 Thank you for taking time to give feedback. I appreciate it. Little conversations like this one really motivate me to get going again.

I will definitely check out your friend's Bandcamp. Thank you!

Also, keep the community updated on how you're progressing with your new ideas!

No problem :) Will do! I look forward to hearing more of your existing and yet to exist stuff

@aliciaesperanza96 as I'm reading your reply, I'm sitting in front of my , working in two notes from your piece "over 3" 😄

oh awesome! I should put a thing on the album page saying I'm happy with people sampling if they tell me. Maybe I will change the license the album is under. I need to research it a lil bit more.

I also put all the stems and raw sounds from the album before onto freesound:

@aliciaesperanza96 I think you put this "note" under your first album. that's why I had the idea.

Do you remember my original post after listening to your album "pieces for compressed piano"? It inspired me and a few notes found their way into this track (specifically starting at 1:40 min):

Let me know how you like the album if you feel like.

Listening to your rocking chair now :).

ahh that's cool, I listened to the album a couple of times, but now you mention it I recognise the resemblance! Really nice use of the material

I got your message, but originally didn't reply as I didn't feel like I had good feedback (not a great reason, but we live and learn); apart from that I liked the album. Then I guess I let it fall to the wayside, sorry about that

What are the vocals in that track? They have a really interesting quality

Thank you for getting back to this!

The vocals are from the owner of a poetic garden here in Taiwan. We were drinking tea when he stopped by and started singing a song for us in Taiwanese / Holo language (which is very different from Mandarin). I quickly pulled out my phone and recorded it.

In general I love combining electronic music with samples, as it makes this music more accessible for the human ear. Kind of bridging the gap..

true and I think it comes across in your music. Similarly I think it's why I've turned to using acoustic instruments lately

what do you play besides piano? did you go through proper education or DIY learned playing?

I started learning violin when I was about 6 or 7. I only spent a few years learning piano properly. And I can play some scales on the sax and trumpet. I find it interesting and useful to know about how instruments work, to write well for them. And I also find it can lead to new ways of writing, I think because it provides very real limitations on what I can play/record.

do you play acoustic instruments?

oh, my sister also started playing violin at that age :).

I've always had a very deep passion for music but it's only been two years that I have felt more and more curiosity about music theory. at first I found it very liberating to purely improvise, but I'm starting to see limitations and therefore getting my feet wet regarding the theory aspects.

I just want to expand my toolbox when creating new ideas. so I think learning different scales won't do any harm.. I want to become somewhat fluent building chords. that's about it.
